Lounge with me!

i just got back from san francisco saturday night. i LOVE san francisco. i really do. but this trip made me realize how attached i am to southern california's weather. i mean, bundling up gets tiring, people. at the minimum you probably need 3 layers. a shirt, a sweater, and then a jacket. i have been spoiled by the golden rays of so cal's weather. so much, that i can't even handle the weather in the bay area. or maybe it's just me. because i definitely prefer to be hot than cold. one good thing was that i pretty much knocked out early every night from all that layering and walking. but i do love that city.

speaking of knocking out, i just wanted to blog about my new favorite pair of pajama pants! if you know me well, you'll know that i have a fetish for pajamas and sheets. i LOVE buying new pairs of pj's and sheets. but it HAS to be cotton. i can't sleep in anything else. something about cotton is so soothing and relaxing.

before freshman year of college, i went to target and bought myself a pair of tigger (winnie the pooh) pj's. i loved them. it was a 2 piece baby blue, cotton/flannel with tiggers all over it. it took me awhile to choose the "right" pair of pj's to take with me for my first year in the dorms though. i know. i sound crazy, right? but my tigger pj's were so comfortable!!! so many memories in them.

but the weird thing is, even though i buy tons of pj's a year (i have a whole section of my closet just dedicated to sweats and pj's), i always come back to my tigger ones. it's been through the washer and dryer sooooo many times, it lost it's flannelness and is almost transparent. also, there are battle scars everywhere. i had to sew the pants a few times. but no matter how tattered it looks, i can't get myself to get rid of them.

and besides! it took 7 years of wearing, washing and drying to get them that soft!

ok. back to the real reason for this post. my new favorite pj pants! i have the first one in a peach/salmon color (the one with the white polka dots) from J Crew. i just wanted to share that with you. for those of you that might be looking for new pj's. oh so soft and CUTE! but i wish it came with a matching top.

aren't they lovely? i want them ALL.

weekend lounge & sleep

as 2008 is drawing to a close, i wish everyone health and happiness for 2009!

i gotta go get my new fave pj's from the dryer...

moments of reality

what do i love about weddings? all the moments that make the special day. moments, when put together, make a story. moments of quietness and serenity when the bride is getting ready, the moment a groom sees his bride for the first time, moments between the bride and her bridesmaids, the tears and laughter that comes with giving a toast. all those moments are why i love being a wedding photographer.

i looked through all the weddings i was a part of and realized the images that stood out to me the most were the ones that depicted moments of reality. with all the planning and hustling and bustling the day of, i'm sure it can get quite overwhelming for the bride and groom. but in between all that are quiet, special moments that only a camera can capture.

***sidenote: i say love about a million times, but i can't help it. that's why i chose these images. :P

2 reasons why this image always makes me tingle inside. one: the evidence of two different cultures coming together so beautifully. two: the way she's touching the necklace her mother-in-law gave her.

one of my top favorite moments of a wedding. the toast! you never know what's going to happen or what's going to be said. but one thing that's always guaranteed are tears of happiness and big big hearty laughs (my favorite).

Bahm, anyone?

every winter our family would gather around the fire place and eat bahm. we would cut it in half and spoon out all the yumminess. it was so warm and sweet. and every time, my parents told us that when they were students in Korea, they would buy bags full of roasted bahm from street vendors during the winter. so i have always associated bahm with my parents and korea. i didn't know the english word for it. it wasn't until i got a little older did i realize that bahm were chestnuts~!!! lol. so every time i hear the words chestnuts roasting on an open fire... from the christmas song, i always find myself visualzing what a chestnut looks like: a bahm. lol.

just wanted to share this story because my mom and i were sitting on the couch eating bahm with our spoons today. :)

and remember the light reef thing i said my mom bought? here's a picture of it.

i'm just getting over a cold. hope everyone stays healthy, warm and toasty this winter!!!

Steve & Sally :: Santa Monica Pier |engaged|

two weeks ago, i met sally & steve at santa monica pier for an engagement session. we started the afternoon with slices of ny pizza for lunch and ventured around the pier for some fun shots.

enjoy!

i've actually known steve my whole life. if my memory serves me correct, our dad's were friends since highschool. isn't that crazy?! and even though i've known steve for quite some time, i had no idea he was such a goofball. :)

right after the first shot, we got kicked off the ride! :(

here's steve trying to win one of those HUGE dolls for sally.

i told steve to make a goofy face to try and make sally laugh. lol. it worked. :)
lol. here's steve being goofy again.

this is one of my favorite shots of the day. it's my favorite because i love how steve automatically picked up a piece of straw and put it behind sally's ear. i thought it was really funny and endearing. i love pictures that showcase real interaction between a couple.

another favorite shot. i love the way sally's looking at steve.

congratulations again guys! can't wait to see you guys at your wedding!
